Biografie
Jackie Cooper
John Cooper Jr., bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Jackie Cooper, war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler und Regisseur. Er begann seine Karriere als Kinderdarsteller und war von 1929 bis 1931 festes Mitglied des Ensembles der Fernsehserie „Our Gang“. Im Alter von neun Jahren wurde er als einziges Kind und jüngster Mensch für den Oscar als Bester Hauptdarsteller nominiert – für seine Rolle in dem Film „Skippy“ (1931). In den 1930er-Jahren spielte er erfolgreich Rollen als Jugendlicher und ab 1940 als Erwachsener.
Als Erwachsener verkörperte er Clem in Fritz Langs Western „Rache für Jesse James“ (1940) Socrates „Sock“ Miller in der Sitcom „The People’s Choice“ (1955–1958) und die Titelrolle in „Hennesey“ (1959–1962). Außerdem spielte er den Chefredakteur des „Daily Planet“, Perry White, in den „Superman“-Filmen (1978–1987). Er war auch als Fernsehregisseur erfolgreich und gewann zwei Primetime Emmy Awards für seine Regiearbeit. Parallel dazu verfolgte er eine Karriere als Offizier der US-Marine, sowohl im aktiven Dienst als auch in der Reserve.
