Chevy Chase
Chevy Chase, eigentlich Cornelius Crane Chase, ist ein US-amerikanischer Komiker, Schauspieler und Autor.
Er wurde in der ersten Staffel von „Saturday Night Live“ zum Publikumsliebling. Als Darsteller und Autor der Serie gewann er zwei Primetime Emmy Awards bei vier Nominierungen. Nachdem er „Saturday Night Live“ zu Beginn der zweiten Staffel verließ, etablierte sich Chase als Hauptdarsteller und spielte in einigen der erfolgreichsten Komödien der 1980er-Jahre mit, angefangen mit seiner Golden-Globe-nominierten Rolle in der romantischen Komödie „Eine ganz krumme Tour“ (1978). Am bekanntesten sind seine Darstellungen in „Caddyshack“ (1980), Clark Griswold in drei „National Lampoon’s Vacation“-Filmen von 1983 bis 1989 und Irwin „Fletch“ Fletcher in „Fletch - Der Troublemaker“ (1985) und „Fletch II - Der Troublemaker kehrt zurück“ (1989). Er spielte außerdem in „Fast wie in alten Zeiten“ (1980), „Spione wie wir“ (1985), „Drei Amigos“ (1986) und „Funny Farm“ (1988) mit. Er moderierte zweimal die Oscarverleihung (1987 und 1988). Nach einer Reihe von Flops in den 1990er-Jahren wie John Carpenters „Jagd auf einen Unsichtbaren“ flaute Chases Karriere ab, bis er mit seiner Rolle als Pierce Hawthorne in der NBC-Sitcom „Community“ (2009–2014) ein Comeback feierte.
