Biografie
Joe Dante
Joseph James Dante Jr. (* 28. November 1946) ist ein US-amerikanischer Filmemacher, Produzent, Cutter und Schauspieler. Seine Filme – insbesondere „Gremlins“ (1984) und dessen Fortsetzung „Gremlins 2 – Die Rückkehr der kleinen Monster“ (1990) – verbinden oft Elemente des B-Movie-Genres der 1950er-Jahre mit Radikalismus und Cartoon-Komödie der 1960er-Jahre.
Zu Dantes Werk zählen Filme wie „Piranha“ (1978), „Das Tier“ (1981), „Explorers – Auf der Suche nach einem Abenteuer“ (1985), „Die Reise ins Ich“ (1987), „Meine teuflischen Nachbarn“ (1989), „Matinee“ (1993), „Small Soldiers“ (1998) und „Looney Tunes: Back in Action“ (2003). Für Fernsehen und Kabelfernsehen arbeitete er unter anderem an der Gesellschaftssatire „Der zweite Bürgerkrieg“ (1997), an Episoden der Anthologie-Serien „Masters of Horror“ („Homecoming“ und „Die Schraubenfliegen-Lösung“) und „Amazing Stories“ sowie an „Polizei-Squad!“. und Hawaii Five-0.
