Tom Hanks
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks (* 9. Juli 1956) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler und Filmemacher. Bekannt für seine komödiantischen wie dramatischen Rollen, zählt Hanks zu den beliebtesten und bekanntesten Filmstars weltweit und gilt als amerikanische Kulturikone.
Seinen Durchbruch feierte Hanks mit Hauptrollen in den Komödien „Splash – Ein wilder Hund“ (1984) und „Big“ (1988). Er gewann zwei Oscars in Folge als Bester Hauptdarsteller: für seine Darstellung eines homosexuellen Anwalts mit AIDS in „Philadelphia“ (1993) und für die eines jungen Mannes mit unterdurchschnittlichem IQ in „Forrest Gump“ (1994). Hanks arbeitete mit Regisseur Steven Spielberg an fünf Filmen zusammen: „Der Soldat James Ryan“ (1998), „Catch Me If You Can“ (2002), „Terminal“ (2004), „Bridge of Spies – Der Unterhändler“ (2015) und „Die Verlegerin“ (2017). Außerdem wirkte er 2001 an der Miniserie „Band of Brothers“ mit, die ihn als Regisseur, Produzent und Drehbuchautor etablierte.
Zu Hanks' weiteren bemerkenswerten Filmen zählen die romantischen Komödien „Schlaflos in Seattle“ (1993) und „E-Mail für Dich“ (1998); die Dramen „Apollo 13“ (1995), „The Green Mile“ (1999), „Cast Away – Verschollen“ (2000), „Road to Perdition“ (2002) und „Cloud Atlas“ (2012); sowie die biografischen Dramen „Saving Mr. Banks“ (2013), „Captain Phillips“ (2013), „Sully“ (2016) und „A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood“ (2019).
