Paul Wight
Paul Donald Wight II ist ein US-amerikanischer Basketballprofi, Wrestler und Schauspieler. Er steht bei All Elite Wrestling (AEW) unter Vertrag, sowohl als Wrestler als auch als Kommentator für die Web-TV-Show „AEW Dark: Elevation“. Bekannt wurde er vor allem durch seine Zeit bei World Championship Wrestling (WCW) von 1995 bis 1999 als „The Giant“ und bei WWE von 1999 bis 2021 unter dem Ringnamen „Big Show“. Er ist 2,24 m groß und wiegt 250 kg. Er trägt Schuhgröße 58 (EU).
Wight begann seine Karriere 1994. 1995 unterschrieb er bei WCW, wo er aufgrund seiner imposanten Statur unter dem Ringnamen „The Giant“ bekannt war (und anfangs als „Sohn von André the Giant“ vorgestellt wurde). Anfang 1999 verließ er WCW und wechselte zu WWE. Zwischen WWE und WCW gewann er sieben Weltmeistertitel: zweimal die WCW World Heavyweight Championship, zweimal die WWE Championship, zweimal die WWE World Heavyweight Championship und einmal die ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Damit ist er der einzige Wrestler, der alle vier Titel errungen hat. Er ist außerdem elfmaliger World Tag Team Champion und hielt die World, WWE und WCW World Tag Team Championships mehrfach mit verschiedenen Partnern. Er gewann auch die Intercontinental, United States und Hardcore Championships und ist der 24. Triple Crown- und 12. Grand Slam-Sieger in der Geschichte der WWE. Er gewann die 60-Mann-Battle-Royal bei World War 3 und die 30-Mann-André-the-Giant-Gedächtnis-Battle-Royal bei WrestleMania 31. Seit 1995 war er Hauptkämpfer bei zahlreichen Pay-per-View-Veranstaltungen von WCW und WWF/WWE, darunter auch bei WrestleMania 2000, dem wichtigsten jährlichen WWE-Event.
Abseits des professionellen Wrestlings wirkte Wight in Kinofilmen und Fernsehserien wie „Versprochen ist versprochen“, „Waterboy“, „Star Trek: Enterprise“ und den beiden Comedy-Dramen „Royal Pains“ und „Psych“ des USA Network sowie dem Action-Drama „Burn Notice“ mit. Er spielte Hauptrollen in der WWE-Studios-Komödie „Knucklehead“ und der Netflix-Sitcom „The Big Show Show“.
