Biografie
Bernard Hill
Bernard Hill (17. Dezember 1944 – 5. Mai 2024) war ein englischer Schauspieler. Er war bekannt als Charakterdarsteller in Film, Theater und Fernsehen und wirkte in fast 130 Projekten mit. Britischen Fernsehzuschauern ist er vor allem durch seine Rolle als Yosser Hughes in der bahnbrechenden Fernsehserie „Boys from the Blackstuff“ (1982) bekannt. Im Kino spielte er unter anderem Captain Edward John Smith in „Titanic“, König Théoden in der „Herr der Ringe“-Trilogie und den Gefängnisdirektor von San Quentin in Clint Eastwoods Film „True Crime“. Hill ist der einzige Schauspieler, der in mehr als einem der drei mit elf Oscars ausgezeichneten Filme mitwirkte, und einer von nur drei Schauspielern, die in mehr als einem Film mitspielten, der über eine Milliarde US-Dollar einspielte: „Titanic“ und „Die Rückkehr des Königs“ (die anderen beiden sind Orlando Bloom, der ebenfalls in „Die Rückkehr des Königs“ sowie in „Fluch der Karibik“ mitspielte, und Johnny Depp, der ebenfalls in „Fluch der Karibik“ sowie in „Alice im Wunderland“ mitwirkte). Hill wirkte in drei Filmen mit, die den Oscar für den besten Film gewannen: Gandhi, Titanic und Die Rückkehr des Königs. Hill starb am 5. Mai 2024 im Alter von 79 Jahren.
