Biografie
Tom Savini
Der amerikanische Make-Up- und Spezialeffekt-Künstler, Schauspieler und Regisseur Tom Savini wurde am 3. November 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania geboren und ist vor allem bekannt für die Filme Freitag der 13. und Die Rückkehr der Untoten.
Tom Savini hat in seiner Make-up-Werkstatt einige der ekligsten Horror-Make-Ups und -Spezialeffekte der Filmgeschichte gebastelt: In seinem Durchbruch Freitag, der 13. wurden Gesichter von Äxten gespalten, Kehlen von Pfeilen durchbohrt und Köpfe von Macheten abgeschlagen. Savini hatte seinen Berufswunsch gefunden, nachdem er das Biopic Der Mann mit den 1000 Gesichtern über den Stummfilm-Horror-Star Lon Chaney gesehen hatte. Nachdem Tom Savini für die Make-Up-Effekte für einige Filme des Zombie-Altmeisters George A. Romero gesorgt hatte, darunter Zombie – Dawn of the Dead und Zombie 2 – Das letzte Kapitel, saß er beim Remake Die Rückkehr der Untoten selbst auf dem Regiestuhl.
Daneben ist Tom Savini auch als Schauspieler regelmäßig in kleineren Rollen zu sehen, unter anderem in den Horrofilmen From Dusk Till Dawn und Land of the Dead, aber auch in der Komödie Zack & Miri Make a Porno oder dem Coming of Age-Drama Vielleicht lieber morgen.
