Bill Paterson
William Tulloch Paterson (* 3. Juni 1945) ist ein schottischer Schauspieler. Er wirkte im Laufe seiner Karriere regelmäßig in Hörspielen mit und sprach den Kommentar für zahlreiche Dokumentarfilme. Paterson spielte in Filmen und Fernsehserien wie „Comfort and Joy“ (1984), „Traffik“ (1989), „Auf Wiedersehen, Pet“ (1986), „Truly, Madly, Deeply“ (1990), „Hexen hexen“ (1990), „Wives and Daughters“ (1999), „Sea of Souls“ (2004–2007), „Amazing Grace“ (2006), „Miss Potter“ (2006), „Little Dorrit“ (2008), „Doctor Who“ (2010), „Outlander“ (2014), „Fleabag“ (2016–2019), „Inside No. 9“ (2018), „Good Omens“ (2019), „Brassic“ (2020) und „House of the Dragon“ (2022). Er ist Träger des Lifetime Achievement Award der Scottish BAFTAs.
William Tulloch Paterson wurde am 3. Juni 1945 in Glasgow geboren. Er wuchs in Dennistoun bei seinem Vater, einem Klempner, und seiner Mutter, einer Friseurin, auf. Sein Interesse an der Schauspielerei begann laut eigener Aussage 1961 mit einem Schulausflug zum Citizens Theatre in Gorbals. Nach der Schule entschied er sich jedoch zunächst für eine Karriere in der Architektur und absolvierte eine dreijährige Ausbildung zum Bauingenieur, bevor er sich für ein Studium an der Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama entschied.
